The difference between getting certified and getting rejected is knowing what the SBA wants and how they want to see it. EZCertify knows and we didn't. They made the reapplication easy and successful. They were able to parse the rejection notice and prioritize the data required to get us what we needed. The free seminar given by Mr. Otero, was very a genuine gesture to help small businesses become established and succeed, and it was not merely a pitch to sell their services so they could make money (like other seminars I had attended). The seminar was excellent and provided the necessary information about what documentation was required and how much time the process would take. Mr. Otero was very knowledgeable and was able to thoroughly answer all of my questions. The amount of time I could foresee having to spend on the certification process was quite overwhelming. Because I felt that, as the owner, all of my time really needed to be spent on marketing and business development, as well as continuing to provide technical services to my existing clients, I decided that I needed help and needed to delegate most of the 8A certification process. After Ideation, Inc. procured their services, a specialist, Ms. Andrea Hamel, was assigned to us. She was very capable, and provided excellent services. She had a thorough knowledge of the process, communicated often with me by email or by phone, and really moved the process along. While reviewing the information I provided, she helped us anticipate and address any issues or concerns that the SBA may have. EZCertify has a very efficient process of eliciting responses to targeted questions. EZCertify provided us with examples and models to help me focus my responses. At the end of the documentation process, EZCertify had put together a voluminous package of information. Without their help, it would have taken us several months to compile that amount of information. Without EZCertify’s help, the task of obtaining the SBA 8A certification would have been extremely difficult, and the process would have made me anxious and stressed. After the documentation was submitted to the SBA, EZCertify continued to help us by advising us of possible questions that SBA analysts might have, and when those questions were asked, EZCertify helped us respond to them. From the time the package was submitted, it took only 8 weeks to obtain the certification. Before a company can start doing business as an 8(a) certified firm, the SBA requires that a business plan be submitted. Because of the excellent services EZCertify had already provided, we procured their services again to help us develop a business plan. They again had targeted questions for me to respond to and provided advice and recommendations. We just received our letter from the SBA saying that we have been certified as a participant in the U.S. Small Business Administrations 8(a) business development program. A year ago we decided that we were going to apply to the 8(a) program. follow-up requests from SBA, we received our certification. SDB Certification:When it was time for Horizon to obtain certification from the US Small Business Administration (SBA), I found myself in a bind: certification is vital to Horizon, but extremely time-consuming, frustrating and expensive.
